The Farm’s Marijuana Seeds for Sale

Craft Cannabis Seeds for Sale!

The passing of Amendment 64 enabled Colorado residents to legally grow cannabis for personal consumption. Since we began operations in 2009, our guests clamored about the quality of our craft cannabis and insisted we sell marijuana seeds of the same strains. Many people were eager to try their hand at growing our cannabis on their own.

We listened. As a result, since 2015, The Farm has been offering cannabis seeds for sale, both for the home-growing enthusiast and wholesale buyers.

The Farm’s Cannabis Seeds

Produced by The Farm Genetics™ team, our marijuana seeds for sale are known commonly as F1 seeds—the first generation of a cross between two different strains of cannabis. Our seeds are bred from parent strains that show strong tendencies toward certain desirable traits, such as high THC or favorable aromatics.

The beauty of seed packs from The Farm is that you get a variety of F1 seeds of a single strain. Like variations in a litter of puppies, each F1 seed holds its own unique potential for developing different amounts of traits from the parents. Those slight variations within the seeds in the pack are a wonderful thing. With each single-strain seed pack, the home grower will find varying levels of traits they personally like and connect with. From there, growers can select the perfect plant from which to cut clones.

Plant Breeding

Agriculture has been practiced for over ten thousand of years. Plant breeding, a foundation of agriculture, is the intentional manipulation of a plant species to create desired genotypes and phenotypes.

Classical plant breeding uses deliberate inter-breeding (crossing) of closely or distantly related individuals to produce new crop varieties or lines with desirable traits. Plants are crossbred to introduce traits and genes from one variety or line into a new genetic composition.

Progeny—descendants—from the cross are then crossed with the high-yielding parent to ensure that the progeny are most like the high-yielding parent (backcrossing).

The progeny from that cross are then tested for the amounts of the desired traits; plants showing high levels of the parent traits are further developed. Plants may also be crossed with themselves to produce inbred varieties for breeding.

Cannabis Plant Breeding

Cannabis breeding can be compared to breeding garden roses. Garden roses are predominantly hybrid roses that are grown as ornamental plants.

When you cross two different species of roses together, you don’t end up right away with a distinct new type of rose. Instead, you end up with a variety of roses that exhibit traits from both the parents.

Through inbreeding and other breeding techniques, you can stabilize the genetics and end up with something new you could call a “cultivar,” or a true breeding phenotype. Numerous rose cultivars have been produced over time.

In the case of cannabis genetics—now legally available in Colorado—there are very few true breeding cultivars. It takes many generations and years of inbreeding to create parents with homozygous gene expression and that breed true for those traits with every seed. Today, variation in seed characteristics is inevitably high.

When you grow a pack of F1 seeds, all plants will have similar as well as varying characteristics. Some plants may exhibit more traits of the mother and some more of the father, while others will show an even combination of both.

At the Farm, we pride ourselves on education. For more information on sexing F1 seeds, germination and growing tips, visit our “How to Grow Marijuana” page.

Our growers have had the most-reliable germination results (often over 99%) by planting seeds directly in soil. Our recommendation is to plant fingernail-deep in moistened seed starter or a light soil medium. Once planted, cover with a hum >° F and keep humidity at 80% until emergence. Most seeds planted in harmony with the moon will crack in two to four days; planted out of phase, seedlings will emerge in five to ten days. Remove the humidity dome when all seeds have cracked.

Creating seeds is a natural process that the cannabis plant does very effectively. As long as there is a male plant in your flower room, you can expect to have plenty of seeds when harvest time comes around. Breeding however, is a more complex process that requires a lot of time and knowledge of your plants, but it’s a very exciting experience for any cannabis enthusiast. If you are comfortable growing cannabis from seed and would like to try your hand at breeding, then be prepared for a long term project. Pollinating your plants is easy, but to create seeds that are stabilized and reliable can take many generations to complete. All of this time and research will pay off though, and you will be rewarded with some great genetics that you can be proud of.

Aspiring breeders can quickly be overwhelmed with information while doing research. Before getting in to the genetic side of things, understanding the cannabis plant and how it works is the first step to making better decisions in your breeding program. Nutrient uptake, environmental reactions, and susceptibility to pathogens and pests are among many traits that need to be considered other than the physical appearance of the plant. There is a wealth of information on the internet for this research, but always qualify your sources to avoid bad information. If you are comfortable with your plant knowledge and you are serious about breeding, the best place to start is with Gregor Mendel and his experiments on pea plants. Mendel’s observations created the basis for modern genetic research, and explain how genes interact with each other according to the offspring. This is very important to know if you want to continue learning advanced genetic principles and it will give you a better idea of what is happening in your crosses.

We now offer a line of feminized seeds in addition to our original non-feminized seeds!

Look for the seed boxes marked with an “F” or ask you local dispensary if they carry our feminized strains.

Feminized cannabis seeds are bred to contain no male chromosomes, so that every plant grown from them will flower as a female.

We, at Colorado Seed Inc., use our most stable phenotypes in the selection process for feminized seeds. This ensures that you will get the best feminized seeds we can produce. The advantage to feminized seeds is that the grower will get all female plants and not lose plant count by having to pull males, however, there is no guarantee that a few might herm, due to environmental issues or stress during the flower cycle.

We are in the process of developing high CBD strains but are not yet ready to release them. We have high standards for the seeds we do release, and the CBD lines are taking a bit more time to reach the market. Please check back!

Though we provide suggested retail prices to our distributors, each dispensary ultimately sets their own pricing. For current availability and pricing, please contact stores directly.

These seeds were grown as naturally and responsibly as possible, using organic growing methods.

Simply keep them in a sealed container, in a cool, dry and dark place with consistent temperatures.

We’ve always felt that there’s more to potency than THC. If you’re looking for more than just numbers, we’d suggest Guptilla, Hercules, Chemodo Dragon, and Iron Triangle.

Ghost Ship, Krishna Kush, and Night Nurse.

Chupacabra, Slazerbeam, and Sunburn.

Our general cycle is about 4-5 months from start to finish. The plants can be finished much sooner (

3 months) if they are flowered very small.

Plant height will ultimately depend on how long the gardener waits to change the photo-period to flower (12/12). We try to indicate which plants have stretch faster for those with height limitations.

Yields will depend on your growing environment, style, and experience. We don’t release any strains that are low-yielding.

This depends on the type of canopy you want. For our 7-gallon final pots, we top them 2-3 separate times.

We are certainly here to be a resource for growers of all experience levels! To get started, our head growers recommend these three books that cover both indoor and outdoor growing (they’re also great for those who want to delve deeper into it):

Please feel free to reach out if you have specific questions along the way.

On average, our strains finish in 8-9 weeks, though outliers are indicated.

Since they’re all bred to thrive in commercial production facilities, most of our strains are easy to moderate to grow. That said, Hibiscus Sunrise, Doobiebird Daydream, and Slazerbeam are among the easier ones (namely for their stem strength, vigor and moderate nutritional needs).

We believe any of our strains would be well suited for the outdoors, but outdoor growing varies immensely from climate to climate. For growing in Colorado, we’d suggest trying Hibiscus Sunrise, Guptilla, and Krishna Kush. Indica-leaning hybrids tend to be better adapted to colder climates and shorter growing seasons. Longer flowering strains will need frost protection to finish properly.

Our seeds are only available for in-person purchases at licensed recreational dispensaries in Colorado and unfortunately, we are not able to ship seeds anywhere in or out of Colorado.
