Super OG Kush

Super OG Kush is a new variety from Pyramid Seeds created to meet the two Kush families: on one hand, the Hindu Kush line that they’ve bee breeding for years. On the other hand, the magnificient OG Kush marijuana.

Thus, by adding OG Kush to this cocktail, they’ve achieved to bring its aroma to the Hindu Kush strain , as well as its consistency during flowering and structural traits.

It is then a well ramified and bushy plant, with large and wide leaves and an outstanding main cola.

This 80% Indica – 20% Sativa hybrid is ripe in just 55 days of flowering, yielding up to 500gr/m2 of dense and hard buds.

Its smell and taste are citric and spicy, with exotic hashish notes and a relaxing and shooting effect produced by its high THC concentrations.

Skunk, Haze, And Kush: The Foundations Of Today’s Cannabis

Skunk, Haze, and Kush changed the way people grew and enjoyed cannabis around the World. In this post we’re going to explore each of these strains in a bit of detail, looking at their origins, lineage, unique effects, and much more.

Whether you’re new to cannabis or somewhat of a veteran, chances are you’ve heard of Skunk, Haze, and Kush. These are the names of three iconic strains, that serve as the building blocks of the genetics of most of the cannabis we know today.

When they first hit the market, these three strains changed the way people grew and enjoyed cannabis around the World. The individual plants boasted exceptional yields, flourished under a variety of conditions, and the bud they produced provided smokers with exceptional highs.

Now they’re being used to create newer strains, each with their own unique effects and growth characteristics, while continuing to be enjoyed by cannabis connoisseurs in all corners of the globe.

In this post we’re going to explore each of these strains in a bit of detail, looking at their origins, lineage, unique effects, and much more.

SKUNK

First on our list of cornerstone cannabis strains is Skunk.

This iconic strain first hit the market in the 1970s and has since gone on to give rise to multiple other strains, that most cannabis connoisseurs are familiar with.

The original Skunk #1 was first bred by Sacred Seed Co., a group of cannabis growers based in California, USA, led by the infamous David Watson, better known as Sam “The Skunkman”. The group apparently used a variety of Afghani, Acapulco Gold, and Colombian Gold varieties to finally come up with the strain that so many of us know and love today.

The strain they had created was groundbreaking. It produced high yields in short periods of time, and could withstand a vast variety of climates, allowing for it to be grown indoors, outdoors, and in greenhouses.

The plant produced dense and super resinous buds with little to no leaves and a potent odor. When smoked, Skunk #1 produced unique effects, characterized by a strong, high-energy cerebral buzz that was hard to find in other strains available at that time.

After being released from prison in 1982, Sam apparently brought the first samples of Skunk #1 to Holland, where he sold a small number of seeds of this powerful new strain.

From there on out, the strain has been used by cannabis cultivators and breeders across the globe to create new hybrids. Here are some of the most popular Skunk variations currently available from Royal Queen Seeds:

HAZE

Haze is another renowned strain, that came out of the 1970s. It is sometimes known as Original Haze or Neville’s Haze.

This strain was first created by the “Haze Brothers,” two cannabis cultivators based in Northern California who specialized in growing and manipulating intense sativas. They were playing with a bunch of different varieties of cannabis, including Acapulco Gold, Columbian Gold, and some landrace strains from India and Thailand.

According to numerous online sources, the Haze, that we know today, wasn’t very successful at first, mainly due to its long flowering time. It can take up to 16 weeks to reach maturity, and requires plenty of professional care and attention in order to flourish.

The strain almost went extinct at the beginning of the 80s, as growers were looking for easier varieties to work with.

Luckily, a small sample of Haze seeds made their way to Holland, where they were later sold through The Seed Bank. However, there are a number of rumours circulating on how this happened and none have been verified by any reputable sources.

Most sources agree, that the seeds ended up in the hands of Neville Schoenmakers, who preserved the strain and began crossing it.

One source claims, that the Haze Brothers made a trip to The Netherlands in the early 80s prior to retiring. Other sources claim, that the brothers were friends/acquaintances of Sam The Skunkman, who brought the seeds over to Holland along with his Skunk seeds after being released from prison in 1982.

Regardless of how Neville managed to secure the seeds, he is now considered the father of the original Haze, that sativa lovers across the world cherish. The Haze that he first got his hands on in Holland is still being enjoyed all over the world today and has since given birth to numerous other hybrids.

Here are some of the most popular Haze variations currently available at Royal Queen Seeds:

This is a sativa-dominant strain, that produces super potent buds with THC concentrations of over 21%. Its genetics come from a cross between our Amnesia Haze and a Lemon Skunk, making it a powerful strain with an instantly recognisable lemon aroma.

Our Lemon Shining Haze generally flowers between 8 to 9 weeks, depending on the individual growth conditions of each plant. In an indoor environment, each plant can produce between 425 to 475g/m². In an outdoor setup, you can expect your plants to reach maturity around October and produce yields of of up to 500g/m².

Last one in our list of cornerstone cannabis strains is Kush. However, unlike the other strains we’ve examined, the word Kush doesn’t refer to just one particular type of cannabis.

Instead, the word Kush is used to refer to a subgroup of indica strains. These strains originate from native landrace plants found in Afghanistan, Pakistan, and India.

Many of these strains grow in high altitudes along the Hindu Kush mountain range, which is where they got their name from.

Many varieties of Kush cannabis strains were imported to the United States in the 1970s, where they were preserved and crossed with other strains to create new hybrids. Some of the most famous Kush-based strains include OG Kush, Bubba Kush, among others.

Here are few of the most popular Kush strains available at Royal Queen Seeds:

CRITICAL KUSH

If you’re looking for a potent Kush blend, that can be grown in limited spaces, but still produces good yields, look no further. Our Critical Kush is cherished by our customers for producing solid yields of A-grade weed without requiring a large grow space.

This is an indica-dominant hybrid cross between Critical and OG Kush. It can grow from as small as 60cm, reaching maximum heights of only 1.4 metres. However, its harvests consistently weighs in at around 550g/m². Best of all, you can expect to harvest in as little as 7 weeks.

With THC levels of over 20%, this is a potent strain that produces a long lasting, physical stone. However, it isn’t so strong as to render a smoker completely useless, meaning you can still enjoy this strain and expect to be social and maybe even a little productive.

OG KUSH

This is without a doubt one of the most popular strains of all time. If you don’t believe us, High Times even ranked OG Kush as number 1 on their list of the 25 greatest strains of all time. And those guys know their weed.

There has been a lot of debate about the exact origins of this strain, but many believe it to be an offspring of Chemdawg. Regardless, this strain has gone on to win multiple international cannabis cups and is loved by smokers all over the world.

Our OG Kush buds are usually very compact and covered in a thick layer of frosty crystals. They are also very dense and, once harvested and cured, can be quite hard to break up. OG Kush has a pungent, yet fresh aroma, that can easily take over the area where it is being grown or stored.

In outdoor environments, OG Kush plants can grow over 2 metres tall. They produce good yields, generally reaching about 500g/m². Flowering time is roughly 7-9 weeks.
