Avon Green Goddess Facial Oil Skincare Review
Lately, it would seem that the biggest makeup and skincare trend on my Instagram feed are products infused with Hemp and/or CBD Oil. Naturally, I was stoked when Avon was kind enough to send me their new Green Goddess Facial Oil, so I thought I’d share with you a quick review.

The solution that soothes. Revitalize your skin with Green Goddess, a topical oil with 100mg of CBD and other plant-based ingredients like hemp seed oil, squalane oil and turmeric. This nutrient-enriched formula provides a calm and relieving feeling, making it the refreshing last step to both morning and nighttime skin care routines (avon.com). According to the Avon website, their facial oil is made with sustainably sourced, domestically grown hemp. They take pride in using the entire hemp plant (stalk, seeds, stem, leaves, flowers), so no part went to waste. It’s 99% natural, cleanly formulated, vegan, fragrance-free and safe for sensitive skin (avon.com). The glass packaging is tres chic in its simplicity and minimalism. This facial oil has no added fragrances, so it has a very natural herbal, almost earthy scent. The consistency is on the thicker side, similar to the viscosity of the Josie Maran Argan Oil if you’re familiar with that. Three drops are plenty enough to cover my entire face and neck, so this bottle will last me some time. I have not noticed much of a difference in my overall skin tone or texture. However, I have seen a vast improvement in my skin’s hydration whenever I incorporate this into my nightime skincare routine. I layer this facial oil as the last step to seal in all my essences, serums, and moisturizers. By morning, my skin is noticeably more hydrated and the dry patches around my nose (darn you, allergies!) are gone. I believe this would be too greasy for daytime use or for those with normal/ combination skin types, but as someone with very dry skin, I LOVE this.

Avon sent me these products complimentary for testing and reviewing purposes. However, this review is based on my personal experience and opinions are always honest and my own.

Avon Green Goddess CBD Facial Oil Review
I see more and more mainstream brands dipping their toes into CBD space, and one of the latest launches was pretty surprising to me. Avon is a fairly conservative MLM company, so it was shocking to see them get on board with the whole CBD oil trend. The freshly released Avon Green Goddess Facial Oil ($50) is marketed as a soothing, nourishing, and revitalizing solution for stressed skin, and contains 100mg of sustainably sourced, domestically grown, full-spectrum CBD per bottle.
Is 100mg CBD a lot or a little? We actually don’t know yet because the FDA has not released a report on what they consider to be a safe dosage for skincare use, nor are there any peer-reviewed skincare safety studies on CBD. Please, keep this in mind if you consider buying any topical CBD product – all of the evidence you’re going to get right now will be purely anecdotal until this ingredient is thoroughly tested. There is one study that suggests CBD could potentially be an effective acne treatment, and there are some studies suggesting its anti-inflammatory properties, but more research is needed. And I want any of you who take CBD internally to be very cautious, because one of the recent studies on mice dated May 2019 warns about the risks of serious liver damage.
While Cannabidiol is the main marketing anchor here, Green Goddess Facial Oil contains other objectively good ingredients, including Jojoba Seed Oil, Squalane, Hemp Oil, Turmeric Root Extract, and my favorite Guiazulene, a naturally blue-colored compound derived from Chamomile, which is said to help with skin irritation.
Ingredients: Squalane, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Cannabis Sativa Seed Oil, Caprylyl Glycol, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Cannabidiol, Curcuma Longa (Turmeric) Root Extract, Guaiazulene.
I’ll be honest, I haven’t been using Avon Green Goddess Facial Oil all that long, but I don’t really expect miraculous results from is just based on the ingredients. It’s not like Herbivore Phoenix that I felt like I needed to test for a long time because it was supposed to smooth fine lines and wrinkles and improve discoloration, which takes time. Green Goddess is an everyday, utilitarian oil that you can sort of mix in with your moisturizer in the AM, or apply more generously at night to soften the skin, give it an antioxidant boost, and calm general redness and irritations from stress, pollution, or harsh weather conditions. It’s a good formulation, a bit thick at first but it does absorb almost fully if you let it sit for a couple of minutes before using anything else on the skin.
Avon Green Goddess Facial Oil and comparable CBD oils from Sephora.
While I personally don’t support the MLM business model, I gotta give credit where credit is due. Green Goddess is a well-formulated facial oil and it’s priced on the lower end of natural CBD serums, considering how expensive they tend to be. My skin seems to like it, so it’s going straight to my breakout kit. I dedicated a small corner of my medicine cabinet for products that I use when my face is struggling, and I am always extremely careful when I use them – a squeaky clean spatula for every scoop, sanitizing the nozzles after every pump, and follow expiration dates to a tee. Because the oils used in the formula are fairly balanced as far as ALA and GLA go, Avon Green Goddess CBD Facial Oil can work for all skin types, even oily if used sparingly. Simply add a few drops to your regular moisturizer, or spread 2-3 drops over wet skin after washing, and pat dry like you normally would.
You can get a bottle from your local independent consultant at a discount or if you prefer to avoid the rep route, Avon has them in their online store at full price, too.
