A Few Words on Time

A lot of people come to my office or call and they need help. I appreciate that and I try whenever possible to give you my time. I’ve reached a point, however, where these free conversations are no longer possible.

Beginning today I can no longer provide that kind of educational support for free. If you’re a seed customer of mine or a lab customer you can expect me to continue to take time to support you. If you are new to the industry and just looking for some free information, sorry. I just cannot.

That said, if you need help and you accept that there will be a cost for a consultation, my fee is $500 per hour, scheduled and paid in advance.

Otto II and BaOx Seed at $5,000/kg

I am offering Otto II and BaOx Seed at $5,000/kg. That’s about 62,000 seeds per kg or $0.08/each.

This is the lowest price at which we’ve ever offered seed.

This is made possible by our partnership with Hemp Depot and the significant increase in production capabilities this relationship allows.

If you are considering Otto II or BaOx genetics for your CBD hemp project, buy them from the source, Centennial Seeds.

Thanks, as always, for your support,

Growing the BaOx and Otto II Hybr >

We are almost through the second week of September and reports from the field from registrants growing my BaOx and Otto II hybrids have been glowing. This time of year most of the cultivation work is done and harvest is just around the corner. Here are some guidelines to get you through this busy and complicated season.

The seeds I sell have an established harvest window of a couple weeks. The Otto II, when harvested in the last week of September to the first week of October, has been shown to be reliably in compliance with regards to maximum delta9-THC content. The BaOx hybrid finishes about two weeks earlier. We urge our seed customers to test their crops for compliance between the last week of August and the first week of September to establish a d9-THC baseline.

In order to harvest your registered hemp crop in Colorado you need to file a harvest report with CDA at least 30 days prior to your estimated harvest date.

To be continued…

Growing the BaOx and Otto II Hybr >

The following are my methods. They have been developed over time and are reliable.

Planting outdoors: Seed can be sown directly by use of a seed drill or on smaller installations, by hand. Planting depth is 3/4″ in well prepared soil that drains well. If time permits, seed may be sown indoors under artificial light. A peat and perlite (peat-lite) potting mix in a 2 1/2″ x 10″ tree seedling pot produces an excellent rooted plug that can be transplanted directly to the soil. This indoor plug step allows you to pre-sex the plants before transplanting to the field.

Planting indoors: Seed should be started in a peat-lite potting mixture and transplanted into the same mixture into larger containers for vegetative growth and then flower. Planting depth is 3/4″ into moistened potting mix of approximately 60-70% peat and 30-40% perlite.

Fertilization outdoors: It is preferable to obtain an analysis of your soil before considering which fertilizers and how much to apply.

Fertilization indoors: I recommend Jack’s water soluble fertilizers applied at between 100-130PPM N and 50-65PPM P, depending on the stage of growth. An analysis of your water is the first step in determining an appropriate fertilizer for your greenhouse. From there it’s a simple few calculations to choose a base fertilizer mix and how to mix and apply it for best results. You can call me for more info. I highly recommend the Mammoth-P bacterial inoculant at every stage of growth.

Plant spacing: in outdoor installations I recommend a 5′ spacing in 5′ rows. That works out to 1,600 female plants per acre.

NoCo Hemp Festival 2017

Many people are asking me, “Hey, will you be at NoCo this week?” I’ve got to say no, but not because it isn’t a great thing they’re doing up there. I feel very strongly that it is a great thing; people meet, people learn, pure community-building stuff. My problem is, as it always seems to […]

Otto II Seed Is Back!

Last year I formed a partnership with a Colorado industrial hemp farmer to produce an Otto II seedlot for the 2017 planting season. That seedlot is harvested and undergoing testing in our lab. Once the seedlot has been proofed and germination tested it will be available for purchase. This partnership accomplishes a major goal of […]

BaOx Seed

The 2016 hemp growing season is coming to a close and one thing we’ve learned for certain is that the BaOx high-CBD hybrid seed is our best performer ever. If you are considering purchasing the BaOx seed for the upcoming planting season be aware that supply is very limited. Seed is available now, but not […]

Limited Release High-CBD BaOx Seed

Tomorrow, July 31st, I’ll be releasing a small amount of the BaOx hybrid seed. The BaOx(TM) is a new high-CBD seed that combines an inbred Hindu Kush line and the Otto male used to create the Otto II hybrid seed. The BaOx is fast growing, vigorous, uniform in height and breeds true for the high-CBD […]

BaOx: A new high-CBD hybr >

Today begins final testing for a new high-CBD hybrid seed creation I call BaOx. Pronounced “box”, BaOx is based on selections from an inbred-line of Hindu-Kush and the Otto II seed. The seed has been back-crossed and stabilized for high-CBD expression, fast flowering time and a short, dense structure. Once testing is complete, the seed […]
