Outdoor growing can be a long a tedious labor, taking from 6 to 8 months to complete the cycle, and growing for that long just to end up with a mediocre result can sometimes be disheartening.

Sometimes growing when you’re not sure what you’re doing can have good results, but it’s much better to have some experience or at least a guide to follow; this article is designed for you to find the perfect strain for your outdoor grow, and hopefully you’ll end up with an exuberant, amazing yield.

The best Indica strains to grow indoors:

California Indica by Sensi Seeds:
This is an Indica strain for the hottest outdoor grows; this strain needs a nice sunny climate to develop correctly. This strain can give you over a kilo per plant, but of course this also depends on how well you take care of it. These plants love being planted in earth that’s been prepared with a 50L bag of decent substrate and worm hummus; once they begin growing you’ll need to give them a growth fertilizer such as Bio Grow so they can grow strong and healthy. Once they begin to flower, use some bat guano in your substrate and you’ll need to use some Bio Bloom or another product used for flowering fertilizing in the irrigation water.

Holland’s Hope by Dutch Passion:
This strain is grown outdoors in Holland, so it’s used to cold and humid climates. It is extremely resistant to cold and humidity, although like any other plant you should use a preventive product or two. This strain doesn’t like too much water, as it’s used to humid soils and having small roots, although this doesn’t negatively affect the yield; you can get up to 800g out of just one plant. It goes slightly pink and it’s rather pretty to look at when it’s flowering. It has a sweet, candy like flavor which is similar to the odor it releases when flowering. It should be ready towards the end of September/beginning of October, hopefully getting over and done with before the heavy end of summer rains begin.

The best Sativa strains to grow outdoors:

Arjan’s Haze 1 by Green House:
This is a highly sativa plant with some amazingly mental psychoactive effects and some menthol-like flavors that are extremely pleasing to smoke. It’s perfect for outdoor climates that are quite hot, as it needs

quite a lot of heat to make it to the end of its cycle towards the end of October/beginning of November. This strain grows some long buds shaped like rocket ships that are absolutely covered in resin thanks to the Haze ancestry. If you’re a medicinal cannabis smoker then this strain is perfect for treating pains and issues like loss of appetite. If you cure this strain properly you’ll have one of the most potent weeds you’ve ever smoked.

Shaman by Dutch Passion:
This plant will absolutely take over your garden once it begins flowering; the buds it grows will be massive and purple, with some lovely old wood-like smells, very Skunk. It can put up with a lot of stress as it is very resistant to cold, humidity and pest infestations like aphids. It flowers quite fast and it’s extremely recommended for outdoor areas where it’s hard to grow due to the cold climate. Around the end of September/beginning of October you’ll be able to get up to 1.5kg from just one plant that has been taken care of properly. It has a lovely energizing effect for those that like being able to smoke and get stuff done.

The best Hybrid strains to grow outdoors:

Somango #47 by Positronics:
This strain is the perfect mix between indica and sativa, growing out amazingly thick buds on the tips of the branches and when tutored you can get amazingly sized plants; you can get up to 1kg per plant that’s been adequately cared for. This strain is quite good at dealing with fungi like oidium, making it the perfect plant for outdoors, especially for cold and humid areas. It has an earthy flavor mixed with some sweet hints that’ll stick around in your mouth for a good 10 minutes after the last drag. You’ll be able to get the best hash and BHO extracts from the trimmings of this plant due to how resinous it gets in low temperatures. It should be ready to harvest towards the end of September, so it’s pretty fast as well.

There you have it, our list of our personal favorite strains to grow outdoors; many of these strains are perfect for cold climates and hot climates, but make sure that you pick one that’s right for the specific climate that you live in. Plants don’t just grow on their own, and to get the best quality out of them you’re going to need to treat them with preventive products and use top quality fertilizers if you want to get the yields we’ve talked about on this page.
