Coastal Cleanup Day at Dockweiler Youth Center!

It was a beautiful Saturday morning and throngs of Ocean Heroes of all ages gathered at Dockweiler Beach for Coastal Cleanup Day on Sept. 21st.

Coastal Cleanup Day is an international day of action to protect our oceans, watersheds, and wildlife from trash and debris. This massive volunteering effort has an astounding impact on many of our local natural habitats and communities.

For 2018, the Ocean Conservancy reports that nearly 800,000 volunteers collectively removed more than 20 million pieces of trash from beaches and waterways around the world. That’s 20 million fewer potential impacts on whales, turtles and other beloved ocean wildlife.

Dockweiler’s Coastal Cleanup event, hosted by County of Los Angeles Dep’t of Beaches and Harbors included:

* Beach Cleanup with Heal the Bay and Los Angeles WaterKeeper
* Learning with Tide Pool Experience
* Games and Prizes
* Arts and Crafts
* Live performances by 3rd Rock
* And more!
